ABOUT US - A FUNDAMENTAL SNIPPET
"THE WORD" web site is soley based on biblical teaching and our current understanding thereof. We will accept historical record as auxiliary proof for the establishment of doctrine only if it is not in conflict with scripture.

REVISED: August 6, 2008

We believe "all scripture (both the old and new testament) is breathed by Elohim and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for setting straight, (and) for instruction in righteousness" - 2 Timothy 3:16. We believe that specific laws within the "old" testament remain in effect today and were not nailed to the cross at the death of Yahushua Messiah. The Apostle Paul told Timothy, the set-apart scriptures were able to make him wise for deliverance through belief in Christ Jesus (2 Timothy 3:15). When the Apostle Paul wrote these words to Timothy, the "New Testament" was nonexistent. Paul was referring to the "old" testament law - the Torah. Messiah redeemed us from the curse of the law (death), not the divine law itself. The law is good, just, holy, and spiritual, and opposes sinners (Rom 7:12-14, 1 Timothy 1:8-10). The law defines sin (1 John 3:4).

Messiah was a Jew, not a Greek. We believe scripture needs to be viewed through a Hebraic/Israelitish background, but not an Orthodox Judaic background. We believe Orthodox Judaism is a religion unto itself with it's oral law. And, they do not accept Messiah. Therefore, Orthodox Judaism (as like other types of Judaism) is blind to understanding many sections of old testament scripture that point to Messiah, Salvation for all mankind.

We believe that the New Testament reveals Messiah within the Old Testament. And, we believe the New Testament is completely valid unlike many who now question the validity of the New Testament. The Great Authoratative and Master Creator of the universe is not too weak whereas He can't preserve an acurate record about His only begotten Son, the only Savior for all of mankind. The notion that He can't preserve an acurate record is ludicrous. Moreover, historical documents prove that the New Testament is valid and was originally written in Greek and some parts in Aramaic. And, the New Testament writings were written by the eye-witnesses themselves. (The Da Vinci Code Book is a fraud.)

We observe the seventh day Sabbath rather than the first day of the week. Christ/Messiah did not change the Sabbath day to Sunday, nor did the apostles. IRENAEUS, the disciple of Polycarp, the disciple of the Apostle John wrote the following in his document titled; Against Heresies, BOOK 5, chapter XXXIII, verse 2, concerning the reward of the righteous: "These are to take place in times of the kingdom, that is, upon the seventh day, which has been sanctified, in which God rested from all the works which He created, which is the true Sabbath of the righteous, which they shall not be engaged in any earthly occupation; but shall have a table at hand prepared for them by God,..."

We prefer to use the Hebrew names for our savior, and the Father in heaven since the Hebrew Names are definitive of the Ones we worship and obey. For example, the name Jesus is associated with Sunday, Christmas, Easter, and other like holidays. These such days and holidays are not biblically founded as most believe. However, the title Messiah, His name Yahushua (Yah-Saves), and the Name YHWH is associated with the seventh day Sabbath, Passover, and the other mandated festivals and set-apart days. Thus; when we use the Hebrew Names for our Savior and Father in Heaven, we convey a belief which is diametrically opposed to main stream Christian holidays that were founded in idolatry and paganism.

Does this mean we oppose the Greek Name, Jesus or the titles God and Christ? The answer is: No. YHWH prophesied through the prophet Isaiah that He would speak to His people in another lip (Is 28:9-13).

We believe in keeping the dietary laws found in Leviticus 11 and keeping/observing the following days in a year:

  1. 14th day Passover
  2. Feast of Unleavened Bread for seven days
  3. Feast of Weeks
  4. Remembrance of Blowing (Trumpets)
  5. Day of Atonement
  6. Feast of Booths
  7. Last Great Day
  8. Seventh day Sabbath

(Mandate references can be found in Lev 23 and Deut 16.) These days and times were kept by both old and new testament believers (Colossians 2:16), and picture the plan of YHWH for all mankind.

We believe the Levitical priesthood and the laws encompassing the priesthood: civil, ceremonial, and ecclesiastical laws were either annulled or transformed into the renewed covenant. I write REnewed since we believe that the New Testament covenant is actually the covenant YHWH made with Abraham in Genesis 14-15. (Also reference Galatians 3:12- 29)

  • Messiah is now our high priest (Hebrews 7:11-12, 22-28, 8:1-2)
  • The spiritual body is now the priesthood. (1 Peter 2:9)
  • Messiah became our sacrifice once for all time (Hebrews 7:27)
  • The inheritance is no longer the "promised land" and the "tithe" produced from the land, but rather eternal life, the earth, and the kingdom. [ Eternal life instead of a long physical life - Matt 19:29, The world (An expansion of the promised land!) - Matt 5:5, The Kingdom (The ultimate righteous kingdom the physical nation never was) - Matt 25:34 ]
  • Righteousness is achieved by keeping the law from the heart, mind, and soul by belief through Messiah. (Galatians 3) Matthew 22:36-40 reads, (v:36) "...which is the greatest command in the Law? (v:37) And Yahushua (Messiah) said to him, 'You shall love YHWH your Elohim with all your heart, and with all your being, and with all your mind.' (v:38) This is the first and great command. (v:39) And the second is like it, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' (v:40) On these two commands hang ALL the Law and the Prophets."
  • Love is the righteous aspect of the commandments, the polar opposite of sin. Doers of the law are justified (Romans 2:13, James 1:22). 2 John 1:3-6 reads, We have been commanded to walk in truth and love. YHWH taught this commandment from the beginning. (v:6) "And this is love, that we walk according to His commandments." 1 John 5:2-3reads, "For this is the love for Elohim, that we guard His commandments, and His commandments are not burdensome.
