THE BOOK OF ESTHER

(Written by Felicia Trecek / April 3, 2009)

Did you know that the book of Esther OMITS any mention of YHWH/God or His Providence over Israel and the Jewish people in particular? The book of Esther is a book which glorifies the Jewish people. There is no praise given to God at all. (For example, read Ester 9:1, 10:2-3)

Did you know that in ALL of the many scrolls found in the Dead Sea area, there were NONE found of the book of Esther? Odd?

Did you know that Esther or Mordechai are not mentioned any where else in the bible? For example: Boaz and Ruth are mentioned in Christ's birth chronology located in Matthew 1:5. Rahab the harlot is mentioned in the faithful list found in Hebrews 11 (verse31). Why didn't any of the new testament writers mention Esther - anywhere?

Most people know that the Jewish holiday called, "Purim" has its roots in the book of Esther. (Ref: Esther 9:25-32) The Jews' reason for this holiday is to remember that the Jews triumph over their enemies. Again, where is the Name of God who is the triumphant One? All of the other books - inspired by YHWH - give glory to YHWH, not any group of people.

Did you know that Deuteronomy 4:2 and 12:32 both mandate that we are to neither ADD or subtract from His words and His commandments. Is the Purim holiday in violation of Deuteronomy 4:2 and 12:32? Is the entire book of Esther in violation?

Do you know what the Jewish custom of Purim is? Everybody gets drunk, eats a bunch of food and walks around in crazy costumes (like Halloween), while making a lot of noise and beats an effigy. Don't believe me? Read VIRTUAL JERUSALEM which describes the Purim custom. It's straight from the Jews.

BTW: do you know what an effigy is? It is a sculpture or model of a person. It's made in order to be damaged or destroyed as a protest or expression of anger. In the case of the Purim holiday, the effigy that the Jews beat to death represents Haman and the gentiles in general.

The Purim holiday is an antithesis of what YHWH instructs us to do and what to observe within the Torah and within the New Testament. Christ specifically instructs us to also love our enemies in Matthew 5:44-46. YHWH's Holy Days and Feasts foreshadow HIS wonderful loving plan for ALL of mankind. The Purim holiday and the ritual thereof demonstrates the diabolical opposite of the love of God and all glory given to God.

Do you know that scholars have debated whether or not the book of Esther is even historically correct? (Ref: Wikipedia) Wikipedia wrote the following:

"As early as the eighteenth century, the lack of clear corroboration of any of the details of the story of the Book of Esther with what was known of Persian history from classical sources led some scholars to doubt that the book was historically accurate. It was argued that the form of the story seems closer to that of a romance than a work of history, and that many of the events depicted therein are implausible and unlikely."

"From the late nineteenth century onwards, several scholars explored the theory that the Book of Esther actually was a myth related to the spring festival of Purim which may have had a mixed West-Semitic/Akkadian/Canaanite origin. According to this interpretation the tale celebrates the triumph of the Babylonian deities Marduk and Ishtar over the deities of Elam or more likely the renewal of life in the spring and the casting out of the scapegoat of the old year. Although this view is not widely held by the religious scholars today, it remains well known. It is explored in depth in the works of Theodor Gaster."

Do you know the Jews use to change and manipulate the very words of YHWH? The prophet Jeremiah wrote the following about the Jews:

Jeremiah 8:8 "How do you say, 'We are wise, and the teaching of YHWH is with us? But, look, the false pen of the scribe has worked falsehood."

Because of the facts presented above and based upon the writings of the prophet Jeremiah, I question the validity of the book of Esther and the Purim holiday.

YHWH's Holy times outline the plan of YHWH for all of mankind, not the slaughter and extermination of the gentiles. YHWH's Holy times also give glory to the Holy Father and His Son - the Christ, not to the Jews. (Please ref: Romans 2:17-24) Ephesians 2:9 informs us that no man should boast. 2Corinthians 10:17 reads, "But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. "

May YHWH bless you in all of your studies.
