When
we eat unleavened bread during the Feast of Unleavened Bread, what
does it symbolize for us?
I Corinthians 5:8 reads, "...let us observe the festival, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of evil and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth." The first covenant observers were never told to do this at their Passover meal. They were told to eat "unleavened bread of affliction." (De 16:3).
Being thankful of being part of the second covenant through Messiah; when we eat the unleavened bread during the feast, we should look at it and think of "sincerity and truth". Unleavened bread is also Messiah's body (Matt 26:26-27) which we should utmost desire to eat. Messiah was the WORD (John 1) which became flesh. The WORD is the Bible - the utterance of YHWH our Mighty One. The unleavened bread overall portrays the WORD which is "sincerity and truth". We are required to eat of it each day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread. This serves as a reminder of what we need to ingest the remaining days of the year. Eating physical bread sustains our physical lives tempoaraily, but eating the bread contained within the Bible will sustain our lives forever spiritually. |
